In this course we’ll study a variety of women portrayed in the Bible. Attitudes toward women in the church and in church leadership have been shaped by how the biblical text has been interpreted. Because the Bible and how we’ve heard it taught is so familiar to us, it can be hard to see what it might really be saying, for example, in light of the context of biblical culture. We will use our best biblical scholarship to learn about God’s love for all people—including women.
