Combining breadth, depth, passion, logic, and a clear understanding of Old Testament theology and how the prophecies of the Old Testament point to the person of Christ, the book of Romans is the flagship epistle of apostolic theology. In this class we will dive deeply into the history of the letter, Paul’s intended audience, and the joy-filled beauty of Paul’s understanding and communication of the love and grace of God as expressed in the person of Christ. This is a class not to be missed. Please join us in this time of study and fellowship.

We have an exciting announcement! We have a new Director and Senior Professor at Lakeside Institute of Theology!
Ted Rogers has five Masters degrees and a Ph.D. He taught at the University of Colorado at Boulder. See more details about Ted here.
Ted plans to take LIT in a very exciting direction by putting into place more distance learning opportunities and offering our English-language classes in Spanish translation.
He is keeping our vision to train Christian leaders—both in our Lake Chapala community and beyond—so that they can have a better understanding of scripture and doctrine and can pass that knowledge on to others.
Stay tuned for further announcements about new classes being offered beginning in July.
We’ve all been stuck in place for months. Lakeside Institute of Theology, is planning to offer a class on Church History, beginning Monday, October 19 at 11 a.m. We’ll be doing this via Zoom. If you’re interested, please let Carolyn Hansen know at carolynjhansen@gmail.com and she will send you the Zoom link.
Lakeside Institute of Theology’s next classes will be delayed until face-to-face meetings are once again deemed to be safe. When that happens, we will announce the date and time here on this website, in the church bulletin, and in other media. Stay tuned.
Pastor Ross Arnold went home to be with Jesus on Monday, January 14. “Home” has always been a word full of meaning for Ross. He would often say that, if he ever wrote a book, it would be on the theology of home. It was also the word he repeated most during his last day. He was ready.
On Saturday, January 26, at 1 p.m., we are planning a Celebration of Life service for Ross here at Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Afterward, we will have a time of fellowship and refreshments in the courtyard, when we can share our memories of Ross.
After graduating with a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, Ross worked for several years with World Vision, Joni and Friends and other Christian ministries before settling in Seattle, Washington, in 1989. Over the next 20 years, Ross had a teaching role at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle, where he was an ordained elder in the Presbyterian Church USA. During this time he pursued further graduate studies in theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was ordained through Church Ministry Associates. In November 2009 Ross and his wife, Carolyn Hansen, moved to Lakeside and immediately became involved with Lakeside Presbyterian Church. After several months of teaching a Bible study for the church, Ross was invited to become the pastor in April 2010.
Classes started on September 10. And it’s been so exciting to see what’s been happening! We have more than 50 students in three classes.
This website will allow you to get class notes and watch the videos we’ve been recording.
